The leader of an Eastern European neo-Nazi group, Michail Chkhikvishvili, has pleaded guilty in a Brooklyn federal court to soliciting hate crimes and distributing information about making bombs and ricin. Chkhikvishvili, known as 'Commander Butcher,' attempted to recruit an undercover agent to dress as Santa Claus and distribute poisoned candy to Jewish children and racial minorities. Prosecutors allege he led the Maniac Murder Cult, an extremist group that promoted violence against minorities and inspired real-life killings. Chkhikvishvili was arrested in Moldova and extradited to the United States, where he faces up to 18 years in prison.
