Jordan's foreign minister, Ayman Safadi, has called for renewed international political and financial support to ensure the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees can continue its essential work. Speaking at a meeting of the agency's advisory commission, Safadi emphasized the agency's irreplaceable role in delivering vital services to Palestinian refugees, particularly in Gaza, which is facing a severe humanitarian crisis. He criticized recent Israeli legislation banning the agency and described it as a violation of international law and a denial of essential rights. Safadi also warned that ongoing Israeli actions against the agency are part of a broader effort to undermine the refugee issue that dates back to the founding of the State of Israel.
