Pakistan and the European Union held their seventh Strategic Dialogue in Brussels, focusing on strengthening trade and investment ties and deepening cooperation across multiple sectors. The meeting, co-chaired by Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and the European Union's High Representative Kaja Kallas, provided a comprehensive review of relations under the Strategic Engagement Plan signed in 2019.
Both sides highlighted the importance of the European Union's GSP Plus arrangement, which offers duty-free access to European markets for Pakistani exports, as a key driver for sustainable growth and job creation. Discussions also covered regional and global issues, including developments in South Asia, Afghanistan, and the Middle East.
The dialogue emphasized coordinated approaches to peace, stability, sustainable development, and challenges such as climate change and connectivity. Pakistan and the European Union agreed to strengthen cooperation, advance ongoing dialogues, and identify new avenues for collaboration in the coming years.
