Declan Candiani, a former theatre student from South London, has been sentenced to 23 months in jail for possessing documents useful for terrorism. Candiani became deeply involved in far-right ideology, white supremacist groups, and satanic beliefs, claiming to have made a 'pact with the devil.' Authorities discovered a trove of extremist material on his digital devices, including manifestos from mass murderers, guides to violence, and manuals for building weapons. He also attempted to join a far-right fitness group and displayed neo-Nazi symbols in his home.
During his trial, Candiani admitted to an unhealthy obsession with violent and extremist content, which he attributed to personal struggles and mental health issues. Despite denying far-right sympathies, evidence showed his active engagement with extremist communities and ideologies. The judge described him as 'deeply immersed in truly horrifying belief systems,' while police highlighted the dangerous nature of the material he possessed. Candiani claimed to have rejected satanism and expressed remorse, stating he had undergone counselling and was seeking a new path.
