We must investigate what looks like the political arrest of farmers

Farmers protesting in London on Budget Day have become unexpected symbols of political resistance after several were arrested or detained by police. Among them, Gary Crockford was handcuffed for honking his tractor horn and later accused of driving a stolen vehicle, while David Batstone was taken to a high-security station after parking his tractor in Trafalgar Square. The farming community had organized the protest in response to new inheritance taxes on agriculture, which threaten the survival of small family farms. Despite following proper procedures and notifying authorities, police revoked their protest permissions at the last minute, leading to confusion and accusations of political policing to avoid embarrassing government officials. The farmers remain determined to continue their demonstrations until their concerns are addressed, highlighting a growing divide between rural communities and the government.
