Pakistan and Russia have agreed to continue test cargo shipments along the eastern route of the North-South International Transport Corridor, a key freight network connecting South Asia, Central Asia, Russia, and Europe. This decision follows a meeting of the Pakistan-Russia Intergovernmental Commission in Islamabad, where officials discussed cooperation in economic policy, energy infrastructure, and transport integration. The corridor offers Pakistan a new overland gateway to Eurasian markets and provides Russia with access to warm-water ports and shorter commercial routes. In a separate development, universities from Islamabad and Moscow will co-host the Pakistan-Russia Eurasia Forum 2025 in Moscow, aiming to expand collaboration in education, culture, business, and people-to-people exchanges. These initiatives highlight the strengthening ties between the two countries as they seek greater regional connectivity and diversified trade routes.
