Oxfam has reported that profits from its charity shops have dropped by two thirds over the past three years, with overall income falling by about £28 million to £339.4 million. The organisation has responded by making 250 staff redundant in the United Kingdom to reduce costs, amid rising expenses and cuts to the national aid budget. Oxfam attributes the decline in income mainly to lower emergency appeal donations, which can vary depending on global events. Despite these challenges, the charity highlighted the growing success of its online sales and continued demand for sustainable clothing, and stated that it supported over nine million people worldwide in the past year.
