Abu Shabab militia announces new commander after namesake's death; Hamas: 'Traitors' should take heed

Ghassan al-Dahini has assumed leadership of the Abu Shabab militia in southern Gaza following the death of Yasser Abu Shabab, the group's founder and namesake. The militia, which operates in an area controlled by Israeli forces, released videos showing Dahini inspecting troops and calling for new recruits, vowing to continue fighting against Hamas.

Abu Shabab was killed in what Israeli officials described as an internal clash. In response, the Hamas-run Gaza Interior Ministry issued a warning to Palestinians collaborating with Israel, urging them to surrender or face similar consequences. The ministry suggested that turning themselves in could lessen legal repercussions.

Gaza's Palestinian Tribal Committee voiced support for Hamas's crackdown on alleged collaborators and commended the Tarabin clan for disowning Abu Shabab. The committee referred to the militia as mercenaries serving the occupation. Residents report that Hamas has executed dozens accused of collaborating with Israel, with graphic videos of violence circulating on social media channels linked to the group.
