Construction has started on the first two segments of an upgraded security barrier along the border with Jordan, according to an announcement from the Defense Ministry. These initial sections cover approximately 80 kilometers in the northern part of the border. The ministry is working in coordination with the military to plan future sections and develop the overall defensive strategy for the border area.
The full upgrade will span the entire 425 kilometers of the border, stretching from the Samar Sands near Eilat, through the West Bank, and up to the southern Golan Heights. The project is expected to cost around 5.5 billion shekels, marking a significant investment in border security.
