Starmer urged to delete 'ill-timed' post after Bondi Beach shooting

Britain's political leaders have condemned the deadly shooting at Bondi Beach in Sydney, where ten people lost their lives during a Jewish holiday celebration. The incident, described as 'heart-breaking' and 'horrendous', prompted expressions of solidarity and support for the victims from across the political spectrum.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer faced criticism for an earlier social media post wishing Jewish communities a peaceful Chanukah, which was published shortly after news of the attack broke. Many called for the post to be deleted, arguing it was ill-timed given the tragedy unfolding at the event.

Police confirmed that one of the deceased was believed to be one of the attackers, with another gunman critically injured and several others, including police officers, wounded. The attack has sparked renewed calls for unity against violence and hate, as well as international cooperation to address terrorism and antisemitism.
