Channel Nine has come under fire after its Gold Coast weather and surf reporter, Luke Bradnam, was filmed practicing his golf swing just metres from a memorial service for the victims of the recent Bondi terror attack. The incident, captured by an Instagram user, sparked heated debate online, with some condemning Bradnam's actions as disrespectful, while others defended him, arguing that life must go on even in the wake of tragedy.
Bradnam later apologized, stating he did not intend to cause distress and was unaware he was visible to those attending the vigil. He explained that he had moved to a location further away to avoid disrupting the service and attended the vigil after completing his work duties. The controversy highlights the sensitivity surrounding public mourning and the scrutiny faced by media personalities during such events.
Bradnam has previously made headlines for unrelated incidents, including the theft of his car during a live weather report in 2020.
