The Health Ministry in Israel has introduced new regulations for sperm donations, aiming to balance donor rights, recipient needs, and the health of future children. A central registry has been established to coordinate the 17 sperm banks in the country, ensuring that donors cannot donate to multiple banks and that genetic information is shared to reduce health risks. Under the updated guidelines, a single donor's sperm can be used by up to 12 families, with additional allowances for women storing sperm for future use. The ministry has also expanded eligibility, allowing men up to age 38 to donate, and permitting married or partnered men to donate if they inform their spouse or partner.
