Yousef Omar Aql, a 33-year-old Palestinian from Bidya, died on Tuesday after succumbing to injuries caused by Israeli gunfire in Al-Ram, north of East Jerusalem. He was shot a week earlier while attempting to enter his workplace in Israel and was subsequently treated at the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah, where he remained in intensive care until his death.
His death highlights the ongoing violence in the West Bank, where over 1,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces or settlers since late 2023, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. During the same period, official Israeli figures report that 43 Israelis have died in attacks in the region.
