Nearly 25 fighters linked to the Islamic State group were killed or captured in Syria this month, according to the United States military. The operations followed an ambush that resulted in the deaths of two United States troops and a civilian interpreter. Over the past ten days, United States and regional forces carried out 11 missions, targeting both senior and lower-level members of the group, and eliminating multiple weapons caches.
Officials highlighted increased cooperation between the United States and Syria's new government, allowing operations in previously inaccessible areas. The recent strikes, which included support from Jordanian fighter jets, mark a significant step in the evolving partnership, with the ultimate goal of transferring responsibility for security to Syrian forces.
