Yesh Atid has accused the government of intentionally delaying its response to a High Court petition aimed at blocking the transfer of state funds to ultra-Orthodox schools. The party, led by Opposition Leader Yair Lapid, alleges that the government sought to move some of the funds before a judicial decision could be made. The petition requested an urgent injunction to stop the transfer of approximately one billion shekels from the 2025 state budget to these educational institutions.
The High Court of Justice had set a deadline for the government to respond, but the government asked for an extension and pledged to halt further transfers to unsupervised schools in violation of the law until a ruling is issued. Yesh Atid claims that, despite this commitment, some funds had already been transferred, accusing the government of creating 'facts on the ground.' The party is now urging the High Court to address the state's actions and response.
