Israel has approved the upgrade of mobile services for Palestinians in the West Bank to fourth-generation technology. The decision allows the two main Palestinian mobile operators, Jawwal and Ooredoo, to move forward with 4G services after signing management agreements with a Swedish infrastructure company. This upgrade follows a 2022 framework deal between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, though its implementation was delayed by the recent conflict in Gaza. The process to introduce 4G is expected to take up to six months, while in Gaza, only second-generation networks remain available.
