Chinese food companies are making a significant push into the Indian market at Indusfood 2026, held in Greater Noida, with the largest foreign presence at the expo. Fifteen Chinese exhibitors are showcasing a diverse range of products, including canned vegetables, chickpeas, and instant noodles tailored for Indian tastes, such as vegetarian, non-fried, and less spicy variants. The event also features food businesses from Iran, the Netherlands, Egypt, Palestine, Brazil, Azerbaijan, and Greece, all vying for a share of India's expanding food market with offerings from olives and pickles to baklava and sugarcane-based spirits.
Union minister Chirag Paswan inaugurated the three-day expo, highlighting India's potential to become a global food basket and the importance of converting surplus production into value. The fair has attracted over 2,200 exhibitors from more than 30 countries, with strong interest in Chinese products, especially at the Jinmailang Food stall, which drew crowds for its live ramen demonstrations. Other Chinese firms are targeting India's urban workforce with convenient canned foods and traditional medicine products.
European and Latin American brands are also present, with Greece's Danais SA offering canned fruits and Brazil's Expodireto Cotrijal promoting cachaça. The Palestine stall features Mahroum's baklava and kunafa, including sugar-free options, reflecting growing demand among Indian consumers. The launch of the India-UAE Food Corridor aims to further enhance food security and streamline supply chains between the two countries.
