Israeli police have detained a senior aide to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on suspicion of obstructing an investigation related to leaks of sensitive military information during the Gaza conflict. Local media identified the aide as Tzachi Braverman, Netanyahu's chief of staff and the designated ambassador to the United Kingdom. The investigation centers on allegations that Braverman attempted to interfere with a probe into the leak of a classified military document to the foreign press, which was intended to bolster Netanyahu's stance on the release of hostages held by Palestinian militants.

The leak, carried out by former aide Eli Feldstein, was reportedly used to support claims that military pressure, rather than negotiations, was necessary for the hostages' release.
