US President Donald Trump has announced the formation of a Gaza 'board of peace', naming Secretary of State Marco Rubio and former British prime minister Tony Blair as founding members. The seven-member executive board, chaired by Trump, also includes his special envoy Steve Witkoff, son-in-law Jared Kushner, and World Bank President Ajay Banga, with additional members to be revealed soon. Blair's appointment has sparked controversy due to his involvement in the 2003 Iraq invasion, raising questions about his acceptability in the region. The board's creation marks the second phase of a US-backed plan to end the war in Gaza, which has already seen the release of hostages and a halt to fighting, but is now facing challenges such as aid shortages and ongoing violence. Alongside this, a Palestinian technocratic committee led by Ali Shaath has been established to manage post-war Gaza, while US Major General Jasper Jeffers will head the International Stabilization Force. Hamas has yet to agree to full disarmament, a key demand from Israel.
