'Make America Go Away': Danes protest against US push to take over Greenland

Thousands of demonstrators gathered in Copenhagen and other cities across Denmark and Greenland to protest against President Donald Trump's push to take over Greenland. The rallies, organized by groups such as Uagut, emphasized respect for Greenland's democracy and self-determination, with participants waving flags and chanting slogans like 'Greenland is not for sale' and 'Make America Go Away.'

The protests were sparked by Trump's warning of potential tariffs on countries opposing his plans, and coincided with a visit from a United States congressional delegation, which sought to reassure Danish and Greenlandic leaders that many Americans do not support Trump's stance. Organizers in both Denmark and Greenland stressed the importance of unity and international law, highlighting overwhelming opposition among Greenlanders to joining the United States.

Meanwhile, European troops are conducting military exercises in Greenland to demonstrate their commitment to defending the territory, with Denmark inviting the United States to participate. The situation has drawn international attention to issues of sovereignty, security, and respect for the rights of the Greenlandic people.
