British fine-art photographer John Balsdon is embarking on his first project in the Middle East, traveling deep into Saudi Arabia's Harrat Rahat volcanic field to capture the striking landscapes of Harrat Khaybar. Accompanied by a film crew and local guide, Balsdon aims to document the region's dramatic lava flows, basalt formations, and vast desert plains as part of his ongoing series, 'Always Look Twice.'
Balsdon, who has previously photographed remote locations in Australia, Botswana, and Argentina, is drawn to Saudi Arabia's diverse and largely unexplored natural beauty. His work seeks to blur the line between photography and fine art, focusing on intricate textures and patterns that evoke a sense of scale and timelessness. The resulting images and a short film will showcase the unique features of Saudi Arabia's volcanic heartlands and the artist's creative journey through the region.
