Avi Slama has been elected as the new mayor of Netanya, following the passing of long-serving leader Miriam Feirberg-Ikar. Slama, representing the Likud party, won by a wide margin against three other candidates. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Netanya to show his support for Slama on election night.
In his victory speech, Slama honored Feirberg-Ikar's legacy and pledged to lead Netanya toward new achievements and positive changes. He emphasized his commitment to serving all residents, regardless of their vote, and expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him. Slama, an economist and former banking executive, previously served as a city council member and opposition leader.
