Indian Bank, a state-owned institution based in Chennai, is set to expand its international presence by opening new branches in Malaysia and Indonesia, and establishing a representative office in the United Arab Emirates. The move aims to tap into business opportunities presented by the significant Indian diaspora in these regions, as well as the economic potential of Indonesia. The bank currently operates three overseas branches and has a long history of international operations, dating back to its first branch in Sri Lanka in 1932. Alongside its expansion plans, Indian Bank reported a 7.3 percent increase in net profit for the quarter ending December 2025, with improvements in operating profit, net interest income, and asset quality. The bank's total business reached 14.3 lakh crore rupees, with aspirations to achieve 15 lakh crore by the end of the next financial year.
