The World Economic Forum has announced the establishment of five new Centres for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, with one set to open in Andhra Pradesh, India. This move further strengthens India's involvement in shaping global frameworks for emerging technologies, adding to existing centres in Mumbai and Telangana. The centres will collaborate with governments and industry to develop policy frameworks, conduct pilot projects, and address regional priorities in areas such as artificial intelligence, energy transition, cyber resilience, and frontier technologies.
The Andhra Pradesh centre, developed in partnership with the state government, will focus on energy innovation and cyber resilience, aiming to promote scalable solutions for green energy systems and cybersecurity strategies. The expansion of the network, which already includes centres across multiple continents, underscores the importance of international cooperation in advancing responsible technology development. The World Economic Forum emphasized that these new centres will contribute valuable local and regional insights to global efforts, supporting the responsible deployment of emerging technologies.
