An endangered Egyptian vulture has been released back into the wild in the Golan Heights after a pioneering rehabilitation process involving a custom 3D-printed prosthetic leg. The bird, found injured in a trap, underwent amputation and received a unique internal and external prosthesis designed by a multidisciplinary team of veterinarians, orthopedic specialists, and prosthetics designers. This marks the first known case of an Egyptian vulture being fitted with a prosthetic leg and successfully returning to its natural habitat. Conservationists hope this breakthrough will inspire similar efforts for other injured wildlife, as the Egyptian vulture population continues to face threats but shows signs of stabilization in Israel due to ongoing protection projects.
