Indian, S Asian carriers will need 3,300 airplanes by 2044: Boeing | Hyderabad News - The Times of India

Indian and South Asian airlines are projected to require nearly 3,300 new airplanes by 2044, according to Boeing's latest market outlook. The region's fleet is expected to grow from 795 aircraft today to almost 2,925 in the next two decades, driven by a seven percent annual increase in passenger traffic. Most of these deliveries will be single-aisle jets, catering to the rising demand for short-haul and medium-haul routes, while the widebody fleet is also set to more than triple as carriers expand long-haul networks.

Domestic travel within India is anticipated to lead this growth, supported by a shift from rail to air and ongoing investments in airport infrastructure. Cargo operations are also expected to expand, with the freighter fleet projected to grow fivefold due to increased high-tech manufacturing and e-commerce activity. To support this rapid expansion, the region will need over 195 billion dollars in aviation services and about 141,000 new aviation professionals, including pilots, technicians, and cabin crew.
