China has executed 11 individuals connected to telecom scam operations based in Myanmar, as part of a broader crackdown on transnational fraud. The executed individuals, including key members of a notorious criminal group, were convicted of crimes such as intentional homicide, fraud, and unlawful detention, which led to the deaths of 14 Chinese citizens and injuries to many others. These scam compounds, often located in Myanmar's border regions, have targeted victims worldwide through fake romantic and investment schemes, sometimes forcing trafficked foreign nationals to participate. Beijing has intensified cooperation with regional governments to combat these operations, resulting in thousands of repatriations and ongoing legal actions against those involved.
