Following an incident where opposition lawmakers from Yesh Atid entered the staff area near Boaz Bismuth's office, the chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee responded by removing two opposition members from their subcommittee roles. Bismuth described the breach as a serious violation of the committee's classified compound and stated that the committee is central to national security, not a place for provocations.
The incident occurred during discussions about a controversial bill to exempt yeshiva students from military service, with video footage showing heated exchanges and one lawmaker photographing a document. Bismuth condemned the actions, announcing he would report the lawmakers to the Knesset Ethics Committee, while his party criticized the opposition for their behavior.
Moshe Tur-Paz, one of the lawmakers removed, accused Bismuth of promoting draft evasion and distracting the public. He argued that the committee, under Bismuth's leadership, has lost its credibility, especially as concerns grow over a shortage of combat soldiers.
