New details emerge about man accused of sick act on Bondi bridge

A 22-year-old man, Zayne McMillan, has been refused bail after allegedly pretending to shoot people from the Bondi Beach footbridge, just weeks after a deadly attack occurred at the same location. Police say McMillan mimicked the attack and verbally abused bystanders, leading to charges of stalking, intimidation, and offensive behavior. During his court appearance, it was revealed that McMillan is currently on parole for previous violent offences and is the primary carer for his mother. The magistrate acknowledged his vulnerability due to his age and Aboriginality but denied bail due to the seriousness of the allegations.

The incident comes amid ongoing debate about the future of the Bondi footbridge, which has become a symbol of the recent tragedy. Local officials and community members are considering whether the bridge should be demolished to prevent it from serving as a reminder of the attack. A decision on its fate will be made after further consultation with affected communities and families.
