One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has expressed sympathy for Prime Minister Anthony Albanese after he and his wife Jodie Haydon were evacuated from The Lodge following a bomb threat. Federal police moved the couple to a secure location on Tuesday evening while the residence was searched and later declared safe. The threat was linked to a series of menacing emails referencing the upcoming Australian tour of Shen Yun Performing Arts.
Hanson said she was shocked by the incident and empathised with the Prime Minister, recalling that she and her family had previously endured death threats and long-term police protection. She urged Australians to reject violence, saying political disagreements must be resolved through the ballot box rather than intimidation.
Opposition figures also condemned the threats, describing them as abhorrent and stressing that Australia is built on civil debate, not violence. The incident comes amid a broader campaign of threatening messages directed at public officials and performers connected to the dance company's tour.
