Urge public to participate in SIR of electoral rolls: Asaduddin | Hyderabad News - The Times of India

Asaduddin Owaisi has urged citizens in Telangana to actively participate in the special intensive revision of electoral rolls, warning them not to be complacent about verifying their names. Addressing a gathering in Hyderabad, he alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party intends to remove names from voter lists and question people’s citizenship. He assured that his party would work to ensure the revision process remains smooth and accessible.

The revision of the voters’ list is scheduled to begin in April, with booth-level officers already linking names to the 2002 electoral roll. Owaisi also pointed out that the Supreme Court is set to hear the Citizenship Amendment Act case in May and encouraged people to remain vigilant about their enrollment regardless of the verdict.

He further condemned the demolition of a dargah in Vemulawada, calling it an attack on religious freedom, and expressed concern over what he described as a rise in hate crimes and violence against Muslims. Owaisi also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Israel, accusing the central government of ignoring violence against Palestinians, while his brother Akbaruddin Owaisi alleged that both the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress have targeted Muslim properties under the guise of demolition drives.
