World warns against Mideast war as US, Israel strike Iran

Countries across the Middle East and beyond have warned of a possible regional war after the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran. Russia urged its citizens to leave Iran, with former president Dmitry Medvedev claiming that recent talks with Washington had been merely a 'cover.' The European Union described the situation as 'perilous,' calling for restraint and the protection of civilians, while also stressing the need to ensure nuclear safety.

The United Kingdom expressed concern that the attacks could ignite a broader Middle East conflict and advised its citizens in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates to seek shelter. Jordan said its air force intercepted two ballistic missiles targeting its territory, as regional militaries heightened alert levels. France emphasized the protection of its nationals and forces stationed in the region.

Ukraine blamed Iran’s leadership for provoking the strikes through what it described as violence and repression at home and abroad. The African Union called for urgent de-escalation and dialogue, warning that further conflict could destabilize global energy markets, food security and economic stability, particularly in Africa.
