Germany has withdrawn additional Bundeswehr troops from the Middle East as fighting between Israel and Iran intensifies, according to a military spokesperson. The move comes amid growing regional instability during the seventh day of the conflict.
Soldiers assigned to the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Lebanon are being pulled out due to security concerns. Germany has also significantly reduced its military presence in Erbil in northern Iraq.
Reports indicate that troops stationed in Bahrain have already returned to Germany, with preparations underway for a withdrawal from Kuwait. Additionally, military personnel and embassy staff in Baghdad are being relocated to Jordan as a precaution.
Around 500 German soldiers remain deployed across the region, primarily in Iraq and Jordan. Officials have recently repositioned personnel and scaled back some deployments in response to heightened security risks.
