Event at NYC public college features speaker who promotes antisemitic conspiracies

A student group at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City hosted Sheikh Abdelraham Badawy for an on campus event, despite his recent history of sharing antisemitic conspiracy theories online. The Muslim Student Association, a recognized student organization at the public college, held the event in the campus dining hall.

In recent weeks, Badawy posted videos on social media mocking the Holocaust, claiming that Jews seek to enslave non Jews, and promoting longstanding antisemitic conspiracies. Some posts accused Jewish financiers of orchestrating historical events, repeated blood libel claims, and alleged criminal conspiracies involving Jewish individuals and institutions. Several of the posts disappeared after twenty four hours.

The college said that student organized events do not reflect the institution’s views and emphasized its commitment to open dialogue, academic freedom, and maintaining an inclusive and discrimination free environment. It was not clear what Badawy discussed during the campus appearance, and neither the student group nor the speaker responded to requests for comment.
