Air raid sirens sounded across southern Israel early Sunday after missile launches from Iran, sending residents into bomb shelters. The Israel Defense Forces said the missiles were successfully intercepted.
About 45 minutes later, residents in the south were alerted to another launch from Iran. Hours earlier, sirens had also sounded across northern Israel and the Sharon region, where a missile landed in an open area and one man was injured while running to shelter, according to emergency services.
In response, the Israel Defense Forces announced it had begun a wave of strikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure. The military also said a previously planned exercise would take place in the Golan Heights, noting increased security movement in the area but no specific security threat tied to the drill.
