An Israel Defense Forces soldier has been disciplined after footage showed him vandalizing a memorial for former Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat in the northern West Bank town of Zababdeh, near Jenin. The video, published yesterday, captured the soldier repeatedly striking the memorial with a hammer.
In response, the military described the incident as severe and said it did not align with established procedures. The brigade commander conducted an immediate inquiry, and the soldier received disciplinary action.
According to the military, both soldiers and commanders involved underwent a clarification of procedures following the incident.
