Nearly 90 percent of residents in Prayagraj who had planned summer trips to the United Arab Emirates, other Gulf nations, and Europe have cancelled their bookings due to the escalating conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States. Travel agencies report a sharp rise in cancellations for April, May, and June departures, with many travellers either seeking refunds or changing their destinations.
With flights to Dubai and other Middle Eastern hubs largely suspended, plans to visit the United States and Europe have also been postponed. Around 95 percent of flights to and from the Middle East were initially cancelled, and although some services have resumed, most remain disrupted. Industry experts believe the situation will continue to impact travel throughout the summer.
Travellers are now opting for domestic destinations such as hill stations, Kerala, Goa, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Dwarka. Internationally, there has been a noticeable shift toward Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau, and Australia, as tourists look for safer and more stable alternatives for their summer vacations.
