Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered several proposals to mediate the war involving Iran, and the Kremlin says those options remain available. Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that from the outset of the crisis, even before active fighting began, Putin had put forward initiatives aimed at easing tensions and helping bring the conflict to an end.
Peskov said Russia remains willing to assist but noted that progress would require multiple agreements and understandings among the parties involved. He declined to provide details about the proposals, which were discussed during a recent phone call between Putin and President Donald Trump.
Trump said Putin expressed a desire to be helpful regarding Iran, but added that he urged the Russian leader to focus on ending the war between Russia and Ukraine. Russia, which maintains a strategic partnership with Iran, has condemned strikes by the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic, while also benefiting from rising oil prices linked to the conflict.
Amid reports that Moscow may be supplying Tehran with intelligence, a claim raised in media coverage, Peskov declined to comment and would not say whether the matter was addressed in the leaders' conversation.
