A former Miss California, Carrie Prejean Boller, has accused President Donald Trump of betraying his core supporters after she was removed from the Justice Department's Religious Liberty Commission. Her dismissal followed a February 9 hearing on rising anti-Semitism that officials said she 'hijacked' for her own political agenda.
During the hearing, Prejean Boller engaged in heated exchanges with Jewish witnesses, questioning whether criticism of Israel, including claims of genocide in Gaza, should be considered anti-Semitic. More than 70,000 people have reportedly been killed in Gaza, most of them civilians. She also challenged views on Zionism and defended conservative commentator Candace Owens against accusations of anti-Semitism.
In an open letter to Trump, Prejean Boller said she had not changed since he defended her controversial stance on marriage during the 2009 Miss USA pageant. She accused him of surrounding himself with 'heretics' and abandoning an America First approach by supporting Israel, claiming American troops were being sacrificed for a foreign government.
Prejean Boller concluded her letter by saying she would pray for Trump's salvation, expressing disappointment in what she described as a movement overtaken by foreign interests and religious zealotry. The White House has not publicly commented on her dismissal.
