The United States Department of Defense has identified six service members who were killed when an aerial refueling aircraft crashed in western Iraq on Thursday. Officials said the crash was not caused by hostile fire, and a second aircraft involved in the mission landed safely.
Those killed were John Klinner, 33, of Auburn, Alabama; Ariana Savino, 31, of Covington, Washington; Ashley Pruitt, 34, of Bardstown, Kentucky; Seth Koval, 38, of Mooresville, Indiana; Curtis Angst, 30, of Wilmington, Ohio; and Tyler Simmons, 28, of Columbus, Ohio. Three of the victims served in the United States Air Force, while the other three were members of the United States Air National Guard.
The crash is under investigation. The incident brings the number of United States troops killed in recent operations against Iran to at least 13.
