A Republican congressman from Ohio has called for former television host Tucker Carlson to be prosecuted for treason if federal investigators find that he secretly worked with the Iranian government. Representative Max Miller said Carlson should face prison if evidence shows he acted against the interests of the United States, describing him as a traitor.
Carlson recently claimed that the Department of Justice may be preparing to charge him with acting as an agent of a foreign power. In a video posted online, he alleged that the Central Intelligence Agency accessed his private messages and is attempting to build a case based on his communications with people in Iran before the recent conflict. He denied working for any foreign government and said he has never accepted foreign money.
The dispute comes amid broader tensions between Carlson and former President Donald Trump over military strikes on Iran. Carlson has criticized the strikes as evil, while Trump said the commentator has lost his way and is no longer aligned with his political movement. No charges have been filed against Carlson.
