The article calls for the rise of a 'renewing generation' to restore Jewish and Zionist pride, particularly among Diaspora communities grappling with alienation after the October 7 massacre and the war that followed. Many Jews abroad are experiencing 'Jewish fatigue,' distancing themselves from communal life and struggling with their relationship to Zionism amid rising hostility and social pressure. Yet this moment of crisis is also framed as an opportunity to rebuild a shared cultural and values-based foundation.

In response to these challenges, the World Zionist Organization recently recognized Humanistic Cultural Judaism as an additional Jewish stream alongside Reform, Conservative, Orthodox, and ultra-Orthodox movements. This approach views Judaism as an evolving culture rooted in history, memory, and tradition, but adaptable to contemporary life. It aims to provide a liberal framework for Jews who feel torn between inherited Zionist commitments and discomfort with current political realities.

The proposed global movement of 'Judaism as Culture' seeks to create inclusive spaces for dialogue, partnership, and belonging without demanding blind loyalty. By fostering open engagement and shared authorship of Jewish identity, the initiative aspires to strengthen ties between Israel and Diaspora communities. The goal is to renew a sense of collective destiny built on values, participation, and mutual responsibility rather than obligation alone.
