Israel Defense Forces spokesman Brigadier General Effie Defrin said that the Iranian ballistic missiles that struck the southern cities of Dimona and Arad are not considered a new or unfamiliar threat, despite air defense systems failing to intercept them.
He stated that the air defense systems were activated but did not successfully shoot down the missile, adding that the incident will be investigated and lessons will be learned. Defrin emphasized that the type of munition used was not unusual.
Expressing support for residents affected by the strikes, he said his thoughts are with the people of Arad and Dimona and wished a speedy recovery to the dozens injured. He also urged the public to continue following Home Front Command guidelines, stressing that they save lives.
