Candace Owens and Joe Kent are facing intensifying scrutiny after allegations linked them to the leak of private messages from conservative activist Charlie Kirk. What began as speculation has escalated into a broader controversy over trust, internal divisions, and political responsibility within right leaning circles. The situation is increasingly viewed as a serious test of credibility with potential reputational consequences.
According to Rabbi Pesach Wolicki, the screenshots originated in a private messaging group before being passed through several individuals, allegedly moving from a spokesman for the Turning Point organization to Joe Kent and eventually to Candace Owens. The spokesman later confirmed the messages were authentic and said they were shared with officials to ensure transparency.
The leaked texts, reportedly sent shortly before Kirk's death, depict him expressing frustration over donor pressure and internal conflicts. Messages suggest he lost financial backing after refusing to cancel an appearance by Tucker Carlson and reveal controversial remarks about Jewish donors. Kent has denied leaking the messages, describing them as data points tied to broader questions, while already facing separate scrutiny over allegations involving classified information.
The fallout has sparked anger and concern among conservatives and pro Israel supporters, many of whom considered Kirk a trusted ally. Critics argue the messages are being used to advance wider political agendas, further deepening divisions within the movement.
