Airfares from Hyderabad have surged sharply after the civil aviation ministry removed ticket price caps that were introduced during a recent airline crisis. Airlines have increased fares by as much as 200 percent, with the steepest hikes seen around the April 2 and 3 Good Friday long weekend. A one-way evening flight to Goa has climbed to nearly Rs 15,000, far above the previous cap and almost triple the usual fare.
Longer routes have seen similar increases. Tickets from Hyderabad to Srinagar and Guwahati have touched Rs 20,000, exceeding earlier limits and typical pricing. Other popular routes such as Bagdogra and Indore have also recorded significant fare jumps compared to regular prices.
Travel agents attribute the spike to strong demand, as disruptions in West Asia have led many travellers to choose domestic destinations instead of international trips. Popular holiday spots including Goa, Kashmir, Ooty and Darjeeling are witnessing heavy bookings, particularly for evening departures and return flights. With high demand and limited seats during the holiday period, fares are expected to remain elevated.
