The war between the United States, Israel and Iran, which began on February 28, has led to thousands of deaths across the Middle East. Casualty figures vary, with a United States based rights group reporting 3,268 people killed in Iran, including 1,443 civilians and at least 217 children. Iranian state media and officials have given lower figures of between 1,270 and 1,332 deaths, with discrepancies yet to be clarified.
Beyond Iran, heavy casualties have been reported in Lebanon, where authorities say 1,072 people have been killed in Israeli strikes, including more than 100 children. In Iraq, at least 81 people have died, while 16 people have been killed in Israel by Iranian missile attacks. Additional Israeli military and civilian deaths have been reported in incidents near the Lebanese border.
Other countries across the region have also recorded fatalities linked to missile, drone and air attacks. These include the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Syria, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. The United States has confirmed the deaths of 13 service members during operations and in an aircraft crash, while France reported one soldier killed in a drone attack in Iraq. Casualty figures from several locations have not been independently verified.
