Dr. Walid Phares, a Lebanese American academic and Middle East expert, has expressed skepticism that Iran’s Islamic regime is prepared to reach a comprehensive agreement with President Donald Trump. Despite public statements on social media and reports of a leaked 15 point document outlining potential terms, he sees no concrete indications of readiness from Tehran.
Phares noted that while Trump has suggested that new leadership figures may now be influencing decisions in Iran, there are no clear internal signals pointing toward a full diplomatic breakthrough. Instead, he believes the most that may be achievable at this stage is a limited ceasefire rather than a broad and lasting deal.
