The summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations will proceed in May but will be shortened to a 'bare-bones' program, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced. The streamlined meeting will concentrate on urgent regional concerns, including fuel supplies, rising food prices, and the welfare of migrant workers.
Marcos said he consulted fellow leaders in the regional bloc about possibly postponing the gathering due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. However, they reached a consensus that the current global situation makes coordination more necessary, prompting them to push ahead with a more focused agenda.
