Israel's defense minister warned that military strikes against Iran would escalate and expand after missiles launched from Iran triggered air raid sirens across central Israel, Jerusalem and parts of the West Bank. Civilians were ordered to shelter in place as the projectiles approached.

Following a security assessment with the country's military chief, the defense minister said Israel had previously warned Iran to stop targeting Israeli civilians. He stated that because the missile fire continued, Israel would intensify its attacks and broaden them to include additional targets linked to the development and operation of weapons used against civilians.

The military reported that the incoming missiles were intercepted shortly after the alerts were issued. No immediate damage or injuries were reported.
