Kremlin warns Iran war risks sparking nuclear conflict in Middle East

A senior Russian security official and close ally of Vladimir Putin has warned that the war involving Iran could escalate into a nuclear conflict in the Middle East. He accused the United States and Israel of provoking an extremely dangerous confrontation and described the situation as a strategic mistake that could push the region toward catastrophe.

He cautioned that Gulf nations may seek their own nuclear protection in response, significantly increasing the risk of wider proliferation and long-term instability. He also warned that any ground operation by the United States could lead to consequences similar to past prolonged foreign wars, with devastating results for all parties involved.

The remarks came as the President of the United States announced a temporary pause on planned strikes against Iran’s energy infrastructure, extending a deadline for negotiations while claiming talks were progressing well. However, Iranian officials have formally rejected a proposed peace plan, calling it unfair, and reports indicate Iran is preparing for potential military escalation amid rising regional tensions.
